Mother’s Day Love

Little babe decided to give me the most blessed gift of all for my very first Mother’s Day – herself.  She has officially melted my heart.  I am in love.

Nursery Room Reveal

We are on the countdown to “D day” folks.  My due date is less than 2 weeks away at this point.  Although the nursery has been done for awhile it has served as a dumping ground for all things baby.  Piles of things needing to be put together, mounds of items needing to be washed and finally the room is cleaned up.

So, I’m not gonna lie…..I went straight selfish mode when pulling together “little babe’s” room.  Like I mentioned before, I’m not a “pink” lovin kinda gal.  I figured I’m the one that has to enjoy her room for the first few years so I wanted it to be somewhere inviting and relaxing.  Not somewhere that felt like someone puked up pink pepto bismol everywhere.  We kept the couch so that we can still have somewhere for guests to stay when visiting.

I can’t wait to meet our little bundle of joy and I can’t wait to share her with the world.

Happy Easter!! – Chicken Asiago Spinach Quiche

Chicken Asiago Spinach Quiche

Why have I been up since 4 fricken am?  An even better question is why has waking up at 4am become something normal to me since becoming pregnant?  Usually I can get myself back to sleep after about an hour, but I knew that I wasn’t going to be able to this am so I just went with it and got up.  Poor husband decided just to get up with me.  What a shame, up at 4am on Easter Sunday while the rest of the world sleeps.  Welp, I guess it’s just my body’s way of getting me used to the next 7 years without sleep….WooHoo!  So, I was the crazy lady that was at the grocery store by 6am.  I got evil eyes from the folks working at the store….well Happy Fricken Easter to you too peeps!

Farewell Mom

I’ve been missing in action lately…..for good reason.  A wonderful woman passed away a little over a week ago, husband’s mom.  This wasn’t supposed to happen, a miracle should have happened instead, she deserved that.  I continue to be saddened because I just can’t imagine our little babe’s life without grandma in it.  We needed to find a way to get “little babe” on a flight to see grandma just as soon as she arrived into this world, just as soon as we were allowed, so they could meet.  At least “little babe” could be blessed, if only for a moment, with grandma’s presence.  But it wouldn’t happen.  This is when life just isn’t fair.

During the funeral mass this weekend the Priest said something that resonated with many of us that attended.   It went something like “Don’t be afraid of death.  Be afraid of not living.”  How special.  How simple.  Mom/Grandma lived life, and did so to the fullest.  She loved her family more than anything, and this showed by just how much her family loved her back.  She will be my inspiration on how I wish to live my life, every day to come.

She never got to meet you, Heaven just couldn’t wait….

The angels were calling her name, this was to be her fate.

She loved you before you arrived, this we all know.

Through your beauty and grace, her soul will continue to show.

Shepherd’s Pie

Happy belated St. Patrick’s Day!!  No, I did not forget about the special day….I am 1/2 Irish for goodness sake’s peoples.  I wish I could say I was out partying and drinking a butt bootie load of green beer last night…..but life these days is a little less exciting than that.  Husband and I have just been busy this weekend with nursery/baby readiness chores.  We didn’t actually eat dinner until 8pm at night, and after that I was too plum pooped to type.

St. Patty’s day used to be the prized day of my Nana Mackie.  Nana was the cutest little Irish woman EVER.  She was a petite thing, with a massive amount of energy, bright orange hair and a spunky fire in her Irish eyes (and she just loved her boxed Franzia chardonnay).  Nana treated St. Patty’s day just as special as the other big holidays.  I got a St. Patrick’s Day card every single year without fail.  So, if I didn’t celebrate it I’d feel like I Continue reading
